SIO Assam South organised Students’ Parliament at Al-Ameen Academy, Badarpur
Badarpur: Al Ameen academy Badarpur organized a mock parliament on 15th September 2022 at its institution’s auditorium. A group of students from the H.S. section of Arts and Commerce streams participated and acted in different roles like Hon’ble president, speaker, and members of the parliament by naming various constituencies.
The students were in two sections, one in the ruling position representing the government side and the other in opposition depicting Indian National Congress and various regional parties. The parliament started with the national anthem, followed by the address of the president then the education minister from govt side introduced the National Education Policy bill before the House of Representatives.
The parliamentarians from the government side supported the bill and clapped on various inclusive points of the bill. The hon’ble speaker gave the time to the opposition parties within their stipulated time. The packed house of the people’s representatives debated on NEP and raised questions like M.P.’s to do, and the government side answered the questions with a proper illustration. More importantly, an opposition M.P. interrupted the minister while giving the wrong data and using unparliamentary words by showing the rules of the parliament as per the constitutional amendments.
Consequently, the speaker took votes from the house of representatives and found the majority of them voted in favour of the bill, so he declared the bill passed in the lower house of the parliament.
In a nutshell, the mock parliament gave an actual glimpse of the parliament’s functions through the students’ representatives.
Syed Mujjakir Hussain, the former director of CERT, New Delhi, and Gen secretary of SIO, extended the expert comments and conveyed heaps of praises for students and faculties for providing the space and mentorship for organizing such a gala event. Sir Maruf Ahmed (Sec. ACT) said, “we always appreciate such productive activities on the campus for the overall growth of our students; these will assist them in identifying their true potential, which leads to becoming an ideal person of the society for the greater interest of our nation and humanity at large.”
Principal Shams Ahmed congratulated all the students for showing their exemplary talents and skills and undertaking such a significant role in showcasing the parliamentary debate. He also admired the efficient teachers who guided and nurtured these pupils and offered all possible support for such activities.
“We want to instill the ethos, values, and true spirit of the World’s largest democracy and its supreme functionaries to our students in the form of mock parliament so they can broaden their horizon of understanding and may become role models for others and give back something worthy for the upliftment of our great nation.” Said Jamil Hussain (one of the faculty members of Al-Ameen, who primarily trained these students); among the dignitaries who attended the program were Suhel Ahmed, Pappu Dev, Nazia Parveen, H. B. Mamoon, Zakira Tasneem, A A Salim, Sultan Ahmed, Ranjit Kumar and more.
