NIRF-2022: Jamia emerges as 3rd top university of the country
New Delhi, July 15: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), a NAAC A++ accredited university, secured 3rd rank among all the universities in the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2022 Rankings released by the Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today. JMI significantly improved its position from 6th last year in the NIRF. The Ministry of Education, Government of India had initiated ranking of higher educational institutions in the country in 2016.
JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar received the award from the Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today at an impressive function organised by the ministry to declare the rankings.
Expressing her delight on the landmark achievement, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar said, “By the grace of Almighty JMI has been climbing up the ladder persistently. The university has been making consistent efforts to improve the quality of teaching, learning and research. In NIRF rankings we have progressed from 83rd rank in 2016 to 6th rank in 2021 and now figures among three top universities of the nation. This remarkable achievement was possible because of the relevant & focused research of highest quality and teaching by the dedicated & devoted faculty members of the university”.
Prof. Akhtar further said that the university is committed to realize the vision of the government and will continue to strive for further improvement in our national and international rankings.
The Vice Chancellor also attributed the achievement to the improved perception about the university with regard to teaching, placements, research etc. The university has become one of the sought after institutions by the students and the increase in the number of applications is a testimony to it. “We hope to do better in the coming years”, said the Vice Chancellor.
It is worth mentioning that the university has improved its position significantly in the ‘research’ category where it secured 19th rank improving its position from 30th in NIRF 2021. The university also improved its position in Architecture, Engineering, Dental and Management category and maintained its position in Law.
