The BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal for making inflammatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad 

New Delhi, 5 June: The BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal for making inflammatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad. In an apparent response to the ongoing controversy surrounding party spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal’s alleged inflammatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suspended Sharma and Jindal from primary party membership until further notice on Sunday. 

Earlier in the day, BJP general secretary Arun Singh issued a statement saying, “The BJP strongly condemns any insult to religious figures of any religion. The Bharatiya Janata Party is also opposed to any ideology that denigrates or insults any group or religion. The BJP does not support such people or ideologies.” 

According to the BJP, it “respects all religions” and is “vehemently opposed to any ideology that insults or demeans any sect or religion.”
